I recently signed up for a membership and as a Pre-Paid Legal Independent Associate.
Since then, i went through a constant roller-coaster ("what have i gotten into?"...."this will be great!"...."what have i gotten into?"...."this will be great!"....)
I have done some research on the company and have provided some links below. There are pros and cons. I tried to remain totally objective. I get uneasy when thinking about "multi-level" or "network" marketing. Many MLMs appear to be no more than pyramid schemes.
According to Wikipedia, pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, usually without any product or service being delivered.
I don't believe that Pre-Paid Legal can be considered a pyramid scheme - because there is a real and to many, valuable product/service being delivered. Also, I don't believe that a pyramid scheme can stay in business for 35 years - nor can one get traded on the NYSE.

I am satisfied that I have done my homework, and am happy with my uplines. I don't believe that they have mislead me into believing that i am going to be rich tomorrow, next week - or even next month. I do believe that i can make a few hundred dollars in the next month or two, and from that we will see how it goes.
